JmIRC Word Games
JmIRC Word Games was created for an honours thesis for the School of Computing
at the University of Tasmania (in Australia), written in 2005-06 investigating the
use of mobile phones in education. The idea behind it was to assess whether the
educational value of educational MOOs such as schMOOze could be transported to mobile phones.
The JmIRC Word Games client is based on jmIrc, an IRC chat client MIDlet written by Juho Vaha-Herttua.
JmIrc Word Games uses a IRC client - IRC agent architecture. The client is written in Java ME. The agent is written in Java SE. The JmIRC Word Games client can be used without the IRC agent to chat on IRC, but the agent is required to manage the word games (except for crosswords, which can also be used off-line, once they are downloaded from the IRC agent).
JmIrc Word Games features online multiplayer Scrabble and Boggle, downloadable crosswords, hangman (beta), dictionary defitions, and AltaVista Babelfish translation (beta).

You can now download the client to your mobile phone by navigating here.
Please note, however, that you will still need the agent component to play the games.
I've begun development on a port of the client to Android. The code is in SVN, however at the moment it still is not in a workable state.
